In late January 2025, Gaza was hit by some of the heaviest rainfall in decades. Within hours, tents collapsed, possessions were destroyed, and freezing floodwater rose knee-deep in many camps. Mothers held babies above the water while elderly residents sat shivering on soaked bedding that offered no warmth.
Al Qulub Trust launched an immediate Winter Flood Emergency Response within 24 hours:
Our teams worked through the night to reach the most isolated areas. One father in Rafah told us, “I thought we would lose everything again tonight. You gave us back our dignity.”
Acute malnutrition among infants has reached critical levels. Many mothers are no longer able to breastfeed because of stress, poor nutrition and dehydration. Standard formula often causes severe digestive problems in already weakened babies.
In January 2025, Al Qulub Trust became the first UK charity to introduce a specialised therapeutic baby formula specifically developed for Gaza’s crisis. Created in collaboration with paediatric nutritionists and approved by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, this lactose-free, high-calorie formula is enriched with essential micronutrients and is gentle on fragile digestive systems.
Since launch:
A doctor at Nasser Hospital said, “This formula is saving babies we feared we would lose. For the first time in months, we have hope for our smallest patients.”
Hunger remains a daily reality for most families. Al Qulub Trust now operates 22 community kitchens across Gaza, producing over 15000 hot, nutritious meals every single day. We cook familiar Palestinian dishes because comfort food matters when everything else has been lost. Children asking for seconds and smiling is the moment our volunteers know they have given more than nutrition, they have given a moment of childhood.
Contaminated water continues to threaten thousands of lives. Our fleet of water tankers and portable desalination units delivers safe drinking water to more than 180000 people every month.
With hospitals overwhelmed and roads damaged, our eight mobile clinics travel six days a week to the hardest-to-reach areas, providing wound care, paediatric check-ups, maternal health services, chronic illness management and trauma counselling. Since January 2025 alone, they have treated over 28000 patients.
Our women-led teams discreetly distribute dignity kits, solar lamps and private washing facilities, ensuring safety and privacy in an environment where both are scarce.
Every person in Gaza is carrying trauma. Our psychosocial teams run daily play therapy, art sessions, and support groups, bringing gentle healing to children and adults alike.
