The Prophet ﷺ used to give Qurbani on behalf of Himself ﷺ and another sacrifice on behalf of those in His ﷺ Ummah that were unable to give.
(Ahmad)
Qurbani an act of worship
Qurbani, an Arabic term, refers to the Islamic ritual of sacrificing an animal as an act of worship during the annual Eid al-Adha celebration. This practice commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Isma'il (AS) as an act of obedience to Allah's command, as narrated in the Quran. However, before Prophet Ibrahim (AS) could carry out the sacrifice, Allah provided a ram as a substitute.
During Eid al-Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Muslims worldwide perform qurbani. The act symbolises submission to the will of Allah, sharing blessings with others, and expressing gratitude for His mercy and provision.
Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him, is piety from you.
