Hunger Ignores Borders – Compassion Can Reach Every Home

Across the Muslim world, millions of families face the daily struggle of empty plates and unmet needs. From conflict-ravaged Palestine, Syria, and Yemen, to crisis-hit Sudan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Uganda, Sri Lanka, and Uyghur refugees in Türkiye, hunger and malnutrition are stealing the futures of countless families.

This Ramadan, your support can transform despair into hope. Each gift delivers nourishment, comfort, and a chance for families to survive.

The Crisis: Hunger, Malnutrition & Human Suffering

The Crisis: Hunger, Malnutrition & Human Suffering

The global hunger crisis continues to worsen in 2026, driven by conflict, economic instability, climate shocks, and funding shortfalls. According to the World Food Programme, approximately 318M people globally will face acute food insecurity this year, with nearly 41M experiencing emergency or catastrophe levels.

Children, women, and the elderly are disproportionately affected across the regions where Al‑Qulub Trust works.

Regional Hardship at a Glance

  • Gaza & Palestinian Territories: Over 2.2M people are acutely food insecure, hundreds of thousands in emergency conditions.
  • Yemen: 21M people require humanitarian aid due to severe food shortages and health system disruptions.
  • Sudan: Parts of the country face famine, with millions experiencing very high levels of food insecurity.
  • Syria: 14.5M food insecure, including 9.1M facing acute hunger; around 3M endure severe scarcity.
  • Afghanistan: Millions lack reliable access to food amid ongoing crisis.
  • Lebanon: Nearly 874,000 remain in crisis-level food insecurity.
  • Pakistan: 22% of households face acute food insecurity from economic instability and climate shocks.
  • Uganda: 1.4M people in northern and eastern regions struggle with crisis-level food insecurity.
  • Sri Lanka: Floods and Cyclone Ditwah have worsened food access for rural and coastal households.
  • Uyghur Refugees in Türkiye: Families face ongoing hardship with limited access to stable food and livelihoods.

Grim Realities – The Numbers That Demand Action

  • Globally, 318M people will face acute food insecurity in 2026.
  • Nearly 41M people are projected to be in emergency or worse hunger conditions.
  • 22.6% of populations in assessed hunger-affected regions face crisis-level food insecurity.
  • 70% of children in Yemen are at risk of starvation.
  • Sudan’s conflict and displacement push nearly half the population into acute food insecurity.
  • In Syria, prolonged crisis leaves basic nourishment out of reach for millions.
  • Afghanistan faces severe child malnutrition and hunger, threatening long-term health.
  • Pakistan and Sri Lanka struggle with hunger exacerbated by climate shocks and inflation.

The need is immense and urgent, but together, we can make a difference.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "The best charity is that given in Ramadan."

(Tirmidhi)
