Fitrana - Zakat-ul Fitr

As the blessed month of Ramadan draws to a close, our thoughts turn even more deeply to those less fortunate than ourselves. Across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and even closer to home in Europe, countless members of our Ummah continue to face hardship, poverty, and uncertainty.

Ramadan reminds us that our faith is built upon compassion, generosity, and responsibility towards one another. One of the most beautiful expressions of this is Fitrana (Zakat-ul-Fitr) — a special charity given before the Eid prayer so that those in need can also celebrate the day of Eid with dignity and joy.

Fitrana is obligatory for every Muslim who has the means to give, and it must be given on behalf of each member of the household, including children. This year, the amount has been set at £6 per person.

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prescribed Zakat-ul-Fitr as a purification for the fasting person from idle talk and indecent speech, and as food for the poor. Whoever gives it before the Eid prayer, it is accepted as Zakat, and whoever gives it after the prayer, it is simply charity among charities.”

Sunan Abu Dawood – Hadith 1609

Give Fitrana (Zakat-ul Fitr) from £6 Per Person

By giving your Fitrana, you help ensure that families who are struggling can afford basic food and necessities for Eid. It is a small act with a powerful impact — turning our gratitude at the end of Ramadan into hope and relief for others.

As we prepare to welcome the day of Eid, let us remember the millions who rely on the generosity of the Ummah. Your £6 Fitrana can help bring food to a table, a smile to a child, and dignity to a family in need.

Give your Fitrana today and ensure that everyone can celebrate Eid with happiness and hope.

£6 per person — for every member of your household.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Charity does not decrease wealth. No one forgives another except that Allah increases him in honour, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him in status.”

Sahih Muslim – Hadith 2588

Bringing Hope to Those in Need

Your Fitrana reaches those who are facing severe hardship — families who have been displaced by war, affected by natural disasters, or struggling with poverty and uncertainty. For many vulnerable communities, this support provides essential food and basic necessities during the days of Eid.

Through your generosity, Fitrana becomes more than a simple donation; it becomes a source of hope, relief, and dignity for members of the Ummah who are suffering. It reminds them that they are not forgotten, and that the global Muslim community stands beside them in their time of need.

By fulfilling this obligation, you help ensure that struggling families can share in the joy of Eid, bringing comfort to those who need it most and strengthening the spirit of compassion and unity within our Ummah.
